What does winning your first ATP Tour title mean to you?
It means a lot to me to win my first title on the ATP Tour. It was really hard today, really moving. I’m glad everything worked out today.

Was there a point in the week when you felt that winning the title was within your grasp, or did it surprise you?
It’s no surprise because I work hard for this every day and really wanted it. I had five good matches here against very good players so it was great.

Talk about your preseason and some of the things you focused on with your game.
I spent two weeks in the French mountains and did a lot of physical work. I have tried to improve my basics with my game.

How much confidence did you gain from qualifying for the Next Gen ATP Finals last year and winning a match in Milan?
Great confidence. It was a goal for me to be in Milan last year. The year before, I missed it by just one place. I played against Frances tiafoe, Mikaël ymer and Sinner jannik. It was a great experience to play against them.

The videos of you playing the piano have garnered a lot of attention. How often do you play the piano when you are at home and sometimes try to practice when you are on the road?
It’s not easy on the Tour. It depends if the hotel has a piano. But when I’m at home I try to improve myself and learn new songs.

How will you celebrate your victory here in Auckland?
We are going to the port tonight and we will have a good dinner.
